"The practice commenced in May 1960. Bill Hamilton as a sole practitioner established himself in the specialist field of insolvency mainly through his success in reconstruction of companies by implementing Schemes of Arrangement by application to the Supreme Court of New South Wales.

He pioneered the means of utilizing this procedure as a means of rehabilitation of companies. Through his many applications to the Court this established his reputation and competence in legal accounting matters which lead to his appointment by the Attorney General for New South Wales as an Official Liquidator for the State in October 1962. For a period he was the sole Official Liquidator for the State of New South Wales at the age of 31 years."
